True or False, any website with a monorail is cool.

I’d say True. Below is a Flash site proving me right at least once. Anyone know if this whole micro-city / micro-environment look has an official “interface design” name yet. This is definitely not the first one I’ve posted here. Maybe we need to come up with a name.

This looks like Flash to me, although its being called Frash by whoever hacked this together. Watch in awe as someone wastes a portion of their time left on this planet at Newgrounds… Just kidding, I’m not hatin’ on Newgrounds, but I do find it funny that whoever decided to demo this plugin chose that site to be their poster...
Thanks to Vishal for pointing this site out in the comments section of yesterday’s post. PortlandStudios.com has a really cool bumper title for their site. And I’m glad they called it a “moving picture” because sometimes I’m at a loss as to what to call an animation like this. Or better put, I wouldn’t want...
Its pretty rare one of the uber-nerd websites I go to (way too often every day) has some actual art posted as geek news, but AintItCooNew s had these posters linked up. Which might prove someone running that site has some design sense, and could possibly one day change AICN to look like something other than the worst. designed. site. ever.

You can watch some of the gameplay and storymode scenes of RocketBirds Revolution by RatLoop below… …Or better yet, just play some of the first level here. This is one of those rare Flash games that really shows off what’s possible with the software and (I’m assuming) a small team of talent. But who knows, this could have...
There’s some very cool blending of live action and animation going on in this piece, but it doesn’t really get started until about 2 minutes in. Worth checking out though.

Last night, Bill Kroyer and I participated in an animation panel at the Hammer Museum, which followed a screening of some newly restored silent era cartoons by the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Those films have now been posted online on a new website established by the UCLA Library. An initial eleven films are now available to view or download,...
The author of this amazing piece describes it as a “Handdrawn audioresponsive video exploration”, but if you read the comments section where he posted it to Vimeo, he’s a little more clear about the handdrawn-ness of it . When I first read the description and saw the animation, my jaw-dropped because I imagined this guy using...
I just got a hold of Animate Pro 2 yesterday so I don’t have any tutorials yet, but I’ll have some fun stuff ahead. The last version of Animate Pro had true 3D so to add some icing on that cake they’ve included 3D Stereoscopic cameras. Here’s their official description… Combined with true vision, Toon Boom Animate...
Check out this very sweet screenprint of Smokey (the smoke monster) from Lost. Amazingly detailed by artist Ken Taylor, and sold through IamTryingToBuySomeJerkeyAndASlushy.com which appears to be a sub-site of DamonCarltonAndaPolarBear.com . Oops I wrote “sold” but actually it looks like the print is sold out. Wow. So $50 times 300....
