Very cool Honda Crosstour commercials!

January 11th, 2010 admin

If you wanna be quick about it, the YouTube movie are below, but here’s a link to a much prettier Quicktime version of the first one of these commercials that caught my eye. And another one which is a little less cool, but the same style… So I’ll throw out a 2010 prediction now: More big polygon CG animation. These commercials are too cool not to be imitated by someone else.

Amazing Archive of Vintage TV Commercials
The commercial above comes from Duke University’s AdViews digital archive which is the most significant collection of vintage TV commercials that I’ve ever seen available online. The commercials, which were digitized only last year, were either created or collected by the ad agency Benton & Bowles and its successor, D’Arcy...

Really cool music video (er, really cool starting at the 2 minute mark)
There’s some very cool blending of live action and animation going on in this piece, but it doesn’t really get started until about 2 minutes in. Worth checking out though.  Read More →

Is that title an oxymoron, like “big shrimp”? Possibly, but this animation is very cool. And almost entirely done in Animate Pro… Due credit… Writer & voice actor Ryan Miller. Who’s ready for some cutting edge Polish animation?…ahem, from 1982
This video is pretty damn cool, although I don’t know why its been titled as an “animation” by the uploadee on YouTube, since its clearly not animated, but maybe in Polish the word has different meaning. Its a pretty baffling piece in scope, and it just keeps going…and going…If you make it through all 8 minutes, thats...

…done by Wayne Wilson, who you can probably reach through YouTube if you want to get in touch with him for whatever reason. He just sent over this link to a great piece done to celebrate the new year. Take a look below, he did the music and animation, which I hope sets the right tone for the new decade. Hopefully it will be as funky and...
A very cool Actionscript 3 animation.
A very cool Actionscript 3 animation.
The author of this amazing piece describes it as a “Handdrawn audioresponsive video exploration”, but if you read the comments section where he posted it to Vimeo, he’s a little more clear about the handdrawn-ness of it . When I first read the description and saw the animation, my jaw-dropped because I imagined this guy using...

A very cool Moving Picture by PortlandStudios
Thanks to Vishal for pointing this site out in the comments section of yesterday’s post. PortlandStudios.com has a really cool bumper title for their site. And I’m glad they called it a “moving picture” because sometimes I’m at a loss as to what to call an animation like this. Or better put,  I wouldn’t want...
