Scanning for total sweetness

March 2nd, 2010 admin

Mike from Beeple sent me an email today to check out his latest animation. Check out the epic audio timing below. Embiggen for more sweetness. Also you might remember Mike from this blog a year or so ago with his piece “Subprime”. If not, check it out too… Also between these two piece he’s added a TON to Vimeo. Lots of experimental stuff.

One really short, one not-so-short animation by Eran Hill
One really short, one not-so-short animation by Eran Hill
Vimeo sure knows what I like. They sent me this first animation in the mail today. Its only a few seconds long, but stylistically very promising for what’s to come.  It was done in After Effects and Flash, by Eran Hill… So I’m presuming this much longer animation was done using the same software… That piece was Eran’s...
Kurtz + Friends blog
Bob Kurtz began his career designing the original Alvin and the Chipmunks for Format Films, wrote Pink Panther cartoons for DePatie-Freleng and created Cool Cat for Warner Bros. Perhaps his greatest achievement at this time was his hilarious animation on the Roger Ramjet cartoons. Since the 70s, Kurtz has run his own studio producing award winning...

I love all the work Eddie Mort and Lili Chin have been doing with Animate recently, and below is some of the latest they’ve posted to Vimeo. Eddie has titled this one “Animation test” which is like saying that Princess and a Frog video I posted the other day was just Disney testing out the first five minutes. This amazing, nearly...
Some SteamPunk, I mean Pork Animation
Some SteamPunk, I mean Pork Animation
Check out this beautifully rendered steampunk-style animation titled The SteamPork. Hard to believe it has been on Vimeo a year and only 2600 people have seen it… It reminds me of one of my favorite Futurama episodes, Obsoletely Fabulous (the Wooden Bender episode). Ahhhh, can’t for June.  Read More →

Heaven and Hell Animations
Kripes these two animations are cool! I’ll embed the Vimeos below, but I really recommend jumping over to their site to watch and turning the HD on, and viewing fullscreen. Then turn down the lights… Heaven: Hell: These were directed by Max Hattler, with lots of other co-conspirators which are listed on the video pages on Vimeo.  Read More →
Tostitos Salsa Ad by Nicholas Weigel and Laika
As far as CG spots for salsa go, this one directed by Nicholas Weigel at Laika offers some impressive art direction. An in-depth interview with Weigel and production credits can be found at Motionographer . For a more immersive version of the ad, watch it on Vimeo where it takes over the screen.
